Hot Seat Rankings: Post-Week Three
1. Billy Napier - Florida (1-2) (Last week: 2)
Here's a scenario that plays out every few years at a big-time program in college football: They're obviously about to fire their coach, the fans are out for blood about firing the coach, but the program draws out the circus for as long as possible before actually doing it.
That's what's happening right now at Florida with Billy Napier:
"There does not appear to be the same urgency at Florida, as there is maybe in the fan base, right now to fire [Billy] Napier."

We're not even in the last week of September yet, and these are the exchanges Napier's having at his Monday pressers:
Edgar Thompson: โHave there been any discussions about your future at Florida?โ
โ InAllKindsOfWeather.com (@AllKindsWeather) September 16, 2024
Billy Napier: โNo. None.โ
Thompson: โDo you feel like thereโs still a path to earn a fourth season?โ
Napier: โA hundred percent. One hundred percent.โ #Gators pic.twitter.com/q3z69VkGYJ
Florida's administration can try to drag this out for as long as they want, but the on-field results are eventually going to force their hand. Losing to a Mississippi State team who just got blasted by Toledo would do exactly that.
2. Sam Pittman - Arkansas (2-1) (Last week:1)
Arkansas followed up their brutal double-overtime loss at Oklahoma State by barely beating a UAB team who lost 32-6 to Louisiana-Monroe last week. The Hogs trailed 17-3 at one point, and needed a touchdown with just under four minutes left to squeak away with a 37-27 win.
Meanwhile, Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek says that he definitely didn't force Sam Pittman to hire past (and future) Arkansas Head Coach Bobby Petrino as his Offensive Coordinator:
"That's Sam Pittman's hire. I do not hire assistant coaches," @HunterYurachek says.

"People are gonna speculate that I made him hire him and Bobby's gonna be our next head coach, etc. That't not at all the case." pic.twitter.com/FcE8K1bkwh
For sure.
Anyway, here's the rest of Arkansas' schedule:

3. Stan Drayton - Temple (0-3) (Last week: 4)
Temple fell to 0-3 after losing 28-20 to Coastal Carolina. Here's one play to show you where they're at right now:
