Welcome to day 30 of Running Back Respect Month™! Yesterday, we helped populate the internet with more Tiki Barber Virginia highlights. We've got one day left!

Today: Garrett Wolfe vs. Ball State (2006)

RB Respect Month, Day 30: Garrett Wolfe vs. Ball State (2006)

With apologies to every other great running back showcased in Running Back Respect Month™, there was only ever one player I was interested in featuring twice. I've made it my mission to get people to understand how unbelievable Garrett Wolfe was at Northern Illinois, and posting about his remarkable performance against No. 1 Ohio State in 2006 a couple weeks ago simply wasn't enough to get the job done.

So how about four weeks later when he had 353 yards on 31 carries (11.4), and scored three touchdowns in NIU'S 40-28 win over Ball State?

Wolfe scored electric touchdowns of 53, 51, and 48 yards, plus broke off a 75-yarder for good measure:

If not for two holding calls, this could've been the greatest single-game rushing performance in college football history. Wolfe had a 70-yard touchdown called back on NIU's first drive:

/0:16

Then had a 45-yarder called back on their final possession:

NIU's blocking was stellar, but Ball State's defenders wouldn't have been able to contain Wolfe even if they were playing flag football:

I will never shut up about Garrett Wolfe's greatness, and you can count on me reminding you of it again during next year's Running Back Respect Month™.
