Video: Randy Moss Marshall Highlights

In an alternate universe, there's a reality where Randy Moss enrolled at Notre Dame. In another, he's a Florida State legend. In ours, he went to Marshall and had arguably the greatest career of any college receiver ever. Here are some of my favorite facts about what he did in just two seasons for the Thundering Herd:

  • Marshall went 25-3 in Moss' tenure. His first year, they went 15-0, winning the 1996 I-AA National Championship. Moss had 78 catches for 1709 yards, and scored 29 total touchdowns (28 receiving). In their title win over Montana, he had nine catches for 220 yards and four TD.
  • He also earned First Team All-American honors as a kick returner that season, leading all of I-AA with a 34.0 yard average.
  • When Marshall jumped to Division I-A the next season and joined the MAC, Moss was even better against stronger competition. He had 96 catches for 1,820 yards and 26 TD in 13 games. His 26 receiving TD set the single-season I-A record, and he finished fourth in Heisman voting. Marshall went 10-3, winning the MAC Title. The ten wins were the most for any first-year Division I program ever.
  • Moss scored at least one touchdown in all 28 games he played, scoring 55 total. His 54 receiving TD are still second-most all-time if you include his I-AA stats from 1996.
  • He ran for Marshall's indoor track team once, setting school records in both the 55 and 200-meter dashes. They won the indoor championship and Moss never ran again.

TLDR: Randy Moss was un-guardable. He was on a different level than everyone else he shared the field with, and it's about damn time he finally got a long-form highlight video showcasing just how otherworldly he was at Marshall:

As a bonus, I've included the player card that I usually just post to Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram if you want the full statistical view of Moss' college career:
