Before I start, I can't talk about Noel Devine's time at West Virginia without mentioning his high school highlight reel. If you've never seen it, do yourself a favor after this post. What he did to South Florida defenses set the stage for his time at West Virginia, and it's a vital piece to his football story. Devine was one of the most electric players of his era, and left West Virginia with the kind of numbers that place him amongst college football greatness:

Despite injuries during his senior year hampering what could've been an even more prolific career, Devine still finished third in all-time rushing yards at West Virginia, and second in yards from scrimmage. In an offense that already had Pat White, Steve Slaton and Darius Reynaud, Devine brought a different level of terror to defenders with the ball in his hands:

He toasted defenders with his top-end speed and lightning-quick cuts, and was the definition of a home run hitter as a running back:

Devine might've not had the NFL success that people thought he would coming out of high school, but he's still one of the most exciting running backs I've ever watched, and the kind of player that you never forget:
