Bulletpoints: Miami
Thoughts on the Buckeyes' 24-14 loss to the Hurricanes.
- This game was Ryan Day at his absolute worst. For all the chatter about how ready and fired up Ohio State was to match up against Miami, it didn't show on the field. His game management was a disaster, and I'm not sure how anyone could look at his gameplan and say it put the team in their best position to win. For a guy who said after the national championship that he finally understood what happened against Georgia in 2022, he sure didn't apply those lessons against Indiana or Miami.
- That said, this loss is damning on everyone at Ohio State, because they all played a major role in it. Miami whipped them on both lines. Mario Cristobal coached circles around Day (again). The defense mostly played well enough to win, but couldn't get off the field when it mattered most. Special teams had their customary blunders in another big-game loss. The blame isn't equal for everyone, but everyone has a share in it.
