- Think about how different the mentality is with this team compared to the 2015 team defending their national title. I get that it isn't a totally fair 1:1 comparison between the two (different roster compositions/schedules/etc.) but hear me out. Day's striking a nice balance between keeping his foot on the gas and not settling, while also not grinding the team into dust by being a complete psycho like Meyer was that year. They don't feel like a team scratching and clawing to defend something they won last year. This season feels like an elite team building off a blank slate, and Day deserves all the credit in the world for setting the tone with that mentality.
