Josh Allen's Wyoming touchdown reel is ridiculous

I'm about to tell you something I know you're aware of, but I want you to know I'm aware of, too. Just because I love college football and operate a website dedicated to it doesn't mean my takes on it are always smart or correct. In fact, I'd say a decent chunk of them are bad! For instance, I'm the guy who said this about Patrick Mahomes before the Chiefs drafted him:

It's unquestionably my worst sports take ever. It's also far from the only one I've completely whiffed on. In fact, I had this to say about Josh Allen the very next year:

To be fair, I was one of many who believed the idea of drafting Allen in the first round was insane. He had a 56% completion rate in his two years as a starter, one of which he led the Mountain West in interceptions (15 in 2016). The rocket arm some evaluators loved about him was also his mortal enemy. Allen's tape was littered with bold throws and decisions that sometimes worked out, but other times ended in turnovers, or at least would if he attempted them in the NFL. It's a feature of his game that still pops up today, for better or worse.

The Buffalo Bills have seen both sides of the coin in Allen's eight seasons. He leads the league in turnovers since being drafted in 2018. His four turnovers in Buffalo's 2026 playoff loss to the Denver Broncos are the perfect encapsulation of everything his detractors didn't like about his game coming out of Wyoming, and still don't today. On the flipside, it's also clear that Buffalo made the right choice in drafting him, and that he's one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Allen's led Buffalo to an 88-39 record as a starter, won an MVP, and had them on the verge of playing in two Super Bowls. Regardless of what side of the fence you're on when it comes to Allen, the moral of the story here is that you should never trust me when it comes to QB draft evaluations.

My main point in all of this –outside of saying I was wrong about Allen– is coming to the realization that I should've appreciated him more while he was at Wyoming. He was chaotic, fun, and the type of player who was a wildcard from snap-to-snap. Players like that are good for the game, and I wish there were even more of them. To make up for it, I just dropped a 19-minute video of all 57 touchdowns Allen accounted for (44 passing, 12 rushing, one receiving) while he was in Laramie. I had so much fun putting this one together, sheerly for the ridiculousness of the plays he was making. Please count how many times you think, "No way he's about to make that throw," to yourself, and then laugh when he does and it works out. Enjoy the video!
